JACKSON COUNTY, AL – A reward from the Governor’s office is still out there for a cold case murder that’s getting a second look from investigators in Jackson County.

Someone shot and killed Jerry Wayne Gibson back in 2005.

Investigators are taking a second hard look at Gibson’s case and with the reward money and a little help from the community, they hope to close the case.

It was July 28, 2005 when the body of Jerry Wayne Gibson, also known as “Fat Cat,” was found.

The area just off County Road 19 in Section was deemed a crime scene where his body was found in a wooded area.

At the time, Sheriff Chuck Phillips said extensive interviews were done, but they were unable to make an arrest in the case. Now, they’re taking a second look at the case.

Phillips believes someone out there knows something to help bring closure for the victim’s family.

Phillips also said money can help aid in a case like this one.

“What we’re wanting to do today is to bring it back into the public’s eye that it still is an open case and there is a $10,000 reward from the Governor’s office for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone in this case,” he said.

Portland Police seek public’s help solving 2010 murder

(PORTLAND, OR) — On December 2, 2010, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Portland Police officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the 3500 block of Southeast 72nd Avenue after a neighbor called 9-1-1 to report loud sounds coming from a next door residence.

Officers arrived and entered the home where they discovered 32-year-old Randy Lee Willard Jr. deceased under suspicious circumstances.

Officers called Homicide detectives to the scene regarding the suspicious death and after the initial investigation, Homicide detectives determined that Willard’s death was the result of a homicide.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Willard and determined that he died of a gunshot wound.

No arrests have been made in this case and Homicide detectives would like to hear from anyone with information about Willard’s death.

FBI seeks individual who may have information regarding a suspected child sexual predator

Diego G. Rodriguez, Special Agent in Charge of the Dallas Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying an unknown individual who may be able to provide valuable information regarding the sexual exploitation of a child.

The individual of interest first came to the FBI’s attention in November 2005 after a series of photographs surfaced on the Internet depicting a prepubescent female, approximately 10 years old, posing naked in sexually explicit positions. Also visible in the photographs is an unknown male who can be seen witnessing the child’s behavior from a bed nearby. These photographs have been circulated/traded as child pornography among various illegal Internet forums.

Enhancement of the background of one of the photographs identified what appears to be a child’s drinking cup from the QuikTrip chain of gas stations. This image led investigators to believe that the photographs were likely taken prior to November 2005, in one of the following 13 U.S. cities where QuikTrip stores are located:

• Atlanta, Georgia
• Charlotte, North Carolina
• Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas
• Des Moines, Iowa
• Omaha, Nebraska
• Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina
• Kansas City, Missouri
• Springfield, Missouri
• Wichita, Kansas
• Phoenix, Arizona
• Tucson, Arizona
• St. Louis, Missouri
• Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A baseball cap displaying what could be the logo of a local sports team, as well as a partial image of what appears to be a telephone book, are also clues which may provide valuable information regarding the location of this endangered child.

This individual’s identity and current whereabouts are unknown. He appears to be an older, white male between the ages of 55 and 65 with brown eyes, gray hair, and a full beard and mustache. The public is reminded that no charges have been filed in this case, and the pictured individual is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

This individual is being sought as part of the FBI’s Rescue Me and Endangered Child Alert Program (ECAP) initiatives, both of which represent strategic partnerships between the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Rescue Me focuses on utilizing clues obtained through in-depth image analysis to identify the child victims depicted in child exploitation material, while ECAP seeks national and international media exposure of unknown adults (referred to as John/Jane Doe) who visibly display their faces and/or other distinguishing characteristics in child pornography images.
