The Lake County, IN, Sheriff’s Department has confirmed the discovery of human remains over the weekend near rural Lowell, IN.
Although reports of out neighboring Chicago are speculating as to the possible identity of the victim, no identification has been made.
“We are nowhere near having an identification at time time,” Lake County Coroner Public Information Officer Jessica Metros told Victims News Online. “It will be late afternoon or early this evening before we have more information.”
The Lake County Sheriff’s Department supported Metros’ statement, indicating, “We deal in facts, not in speculation or assumptions.” PIO Patty Van Till told us she understands there are families of missing loved ones who are awaiting answers, but the responsibility of their investigators is to “determine identity and cause/manner of death, and we’re not at that point yet.”
Currently, there are two women missing from Northwest Indiana, and several more from the Chicagoland region. Victims News Online will stay with this story throughout the day, and will provide immediate updates as they are made available.
