(PHOENIX) – Silent Witness is now offering up to $10,000 for tips leading to an arrest in a triple murder case in Phoenix, AZ. Two women were strangled in their home two years ago. One of the victims was pregnant.
Phoenix police homicide detectives have two dead young women, a locked house and a mystery they can’t solve, so they’re asking for the help of the public.
Police and the families of the slain women, Melissa Mason and Nicole Glass, both 27, asked for help in a crime that Nicole’s sister Jessica said “is making us wrack our brains to think why someone would do this, and we can’t come up with anything.”
Police say the facts are these:
On Dec. 3, 2010 a friend of the two women went to their rented home in the 4200 block of East Cambridge Avenue, looked in a window, tried to unlock the door and couldn’t, became alarmed and called police.
Police Sgt. Steve Martos said investigators found the two young women inside dead by strangulation. He said the crime likely occurred between 8 p.m. Dec. 2 and 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3. He declined to say what evidence detectives found at the scene. He said that Mason was about eight weeks pregnant, making it a triple homicide.
Martos said the killer or killers locked the door when leaving.
“Now we’ve run out of leads,” he said. “Someone knows the people involved, and we need them to come forward.”
The mothers of the dead women begged for that to happen.
“She was the most wonderful daughter a mother could have,” said Mason’s mother, Sandra Minjarez, of Tucson. “She had told (a sibling) she was pregnant but was waiting as a Christmas present to tell me. I have lost my daughter and lost my grandchild.”
Rachel Glass said that her daughter was in the process of appealing a conviction in a criminal case involving dozens of others who were investigated on various felony charges. Glass received probation earlier this year.
“She used her phone to buy some pot,” Glass said. “She was appealing it.”
Both young women had worked at a Phoenix show club.
Jessica Glass said, “They were bartenders, and they both also were very good people and sweet girls.
“This should not have happened, and someone needs to help make this right.”
